Claes is a graduate in Law from the University of Copenhagen in 1994. He has worked 5 years in the National Tax Tribunal, 1 year in the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation in Amsterdam and 5 years in the Danish Andersen Legal associated law firm.
Since 2005 Claes is a partner in SES Legal in Copenhagen. He is specialized in international tax for companies and individuals. Areas of expertise: Corporate tax, mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations, tax litigation, international tax planning, expatriate taxation. SES Legal also provides legal service within commercial and corporate law, real estate, insolvency and IP law.

Denmark, officially the Kingdom of Denmark (Danish: Kongeriget Danmark) together with Greenland and the Faroe Islands, is a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe. Denmark has the best business climate in the world, according to the U.S. business magazine Forbes.
